SEA KAYAKING
While we are foremost a whitewater kayaking club, some of us enjoy the occasional forray into the ocean.

Quite a few RWWC members own sea kayaks and the club occasionally runs sea kayaking trips, or joins trips organised by Wellington sea kayakers. Popular cruises include visits to Mana Island, Kapiti Island, Cape Kidnappers and Somes Island in Wellington Harbour, as well as exploring coastlines around Akitio and Castlepoint. We also sometimes do cruises on some of the North Island lakes.
As with white water, some of the trips are suitable for novices, while others require advanced skills. If you are a novice and have no sea kayak (sit on tops are not suitable for our trips), but want to participate in a club trip: the club can access a hire fleet of sea kayaks from Manawatu College in Foxton. Hireage contract can be downloaded from our Utilities page. These are day trips, but some of our members also go on multi-day trips or expeditions.
