COVID 19 and kayaking trips. We can run kayaking trips under alert levels 1 and 2.
Under alert level 1, we can do so almost as we did before COVID 19. However, please do not come on trips if you have respiratory disease symptoms. Also please let the trip organizer know if you develop respiratory disease symptoms within 4 days after the trip, and make sure that the trip organizer can contact you after the trip - just in case.
Under alert level 2 we need to take some additional precautions. Here is the link to alert level 2 guidelines.
April 2021
Easter Weekend (April 3-5): Dave wants to run a grade 3 trip; details to come

Monday 12 April: Committee meeting at Mel's place
Saturday and Sunday 17/18 April: Shannon slalom site is running from 8am to 4pm. The perfect training ground for honing your grade 3 white water skills or to have a close-up look at others paddling grade 3 white water. Have a look on OUR RIVERS at what it is like.

Saturday and Sunday 24/25 April: Nothing yet. The Waikaretaheke releases (Grade 2-3 and Grade 3-4 sections) and the Waikaremoana Adventure Paddling Festival have been cancelled due to lack of water.

Saturday 1 May : Rangitikei (Grade 2). Have a look on OUR RIVERS at what it is like. This trip is suitable for people who have paddled with us before. We want to focus on giving "early career kayakers" an opportunity to learn more about how to navigate a river.

Saturday 22 May: We are working on organising a rolling practice with a professional instructor. Details to come. Might include sessions on the 23rd as well. This event will most likely be aimed at improving the roll technique of a limited number of club members so that they are better equipped to teach others in the club. Depending on how the event is set up, participation may be by invitation only.
